Hi there Tori! Our community, including our LinkedIn group - http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Short-Sale-Specialist-Network-4048930 serve as a great resource to give you MUCH guidance in things. Without a doubt, the best way to learn short sales is NOT in a classroom, it is direct, hands on experience. Of course, going out and risking a homeowners financial future so you can learn some lessons is NOT a bright idea!
I admire your humility!
The best thing I would suggest is to partner with an active short sale agent in your office or area and co-list properties with them. You find the sellers and split the commission with the experienced agent. It works well. ANY questions are gladly answered by the thousands of experts around our community!
Are you in Morrow, GA?
where are you? I will help. I'm in Florida - the Clearwater/Tampa area. Also, Mike is absolutely right - this is a great forum and there are a couple of other super resources too. Feel free to contact me offline.
I'm am available also...and if you prefer to just list the short sales, never talk to the banks and receive your full commission we can discuss that as well.
I'm located in California...like Mike said there is a wealth of information on this site, but the best way to learn how to successfully close a short sale is to roll up your sleeves and jump in. But you need to be prepared to work hard and always keep the best interest of your client in the forefront. That is the true payoff at closing...not a commission check but a distressed seller that you were able to help.
