Mark obtained his Nevada Real Estate Salesperson license in March, 2004. He began as a salesperson in a new home community and was promoted to sales manager, eventually managing 14 communities throughout Las Vegas. In 2007, he began selling general real estate and built a team of agents, specializing in residential real estate. Mark has been named one of the "Ten Most Dependable Real Estate Agents in Las Vegas" for 2007, 2008, 2009. Today, The Karten Group helps buyers and sellers worldwide achieve their real estate goals in Las Vegas.
Mark began negotiating short sales in 2009 and finds this particular area of real estate the most rewarding work he does. Mark works with each seller individually, foregoing third-party processors and assistants. He understands the importance of being directly connected to a distressed homeowner and being available with the answers and guidance they need.
In 2012, it seems that every real estate agent in Las Vegas became a "short sale expert" making it very confusing for distressed homeowners to decide who to work with. The industry became more confusing as attorneys entered the market and began negative ad campaigns against using Realtors for short sales.
In December, 2012, Mark began a unique ad campaign by releasing a YouTube video called "Not your Typical Las Vegas Short Sale Agent." During the two months after its release, the video received over 1.1 million views - click HERE to view.

Mark's philosophy is not about short selling more homes than other agents, his focus is helping one homeowner at a time. Knowing that there are more homeowners in distress than agents, Mark is also a strong believer in helping other short sale listing agents learn how to more effectively process their short sales to the benefit of all parties involved.
Mike got his start in Real Estate in 2005 at the young age of 26. He immediately established himself as a top producer in the Jacksonville, FL market, moving into the top 1% of agents his first year in the business. As the Florida housing market became depressed in 2007, Mike shifted his focus and immediately found a calling in assisting home owners with a short sale. In no time he amassed an inventory of over 100 short sale listings and quickly established himself as one of the top short sale agents in the State of Florida. As his online presence grew, homeowners from other parts of Florida began contacting him for guidance with a short sale and to be connected with a local short sale agent.
Seeing a need for home owners in hardship to be connected to local short sale experts on a national level, Mike founded The Short Sale Specialist Network in October 2008. 2010 marked a season of growth for the company with the launch of their online short sale agent social networking site as well as the Certified Short Sale Guide training designation. 2012 marked the launch of the Short Sale Lead Machine website and marketing program for short sale Realtors. The Short Sale Specialist Network has evolved into an organization of over 12,000 agents, manages a portfolio of over 40 short sale related consumer websites, and has assisted tens of thousands of home owners with a short sale.
Due to Mike's diverse experience in many facets of the Real Estate Industry, he has become a sought after speaker in the real estate industry. He is also known for his annual Cruise / Conference, the Short Sale Symposium at Sea. On a personal note, Mike enjoys spending time with his two kids, traveling, real estate investing and snowboarding. He is also very active in his local church and enjoys volunteering there and in his community, as well as serving in international missions.
