I received an email today saying that Altisouce is acquiring Equator! This should be interesting. I have been a vendor with them for awhile but I stopped accepting most of the assignments because I found out that they aren't using outside agents to list the properties. Everything is listed with their in house Broker.

The BPOs don't pay enough and they practically want you to do a full appraisal with all of the data you must put into their system. :-(  They said that Equator won't change. So I guess it is just an investment. It sounds like a good business decision to me since Equator is doing so well!

I fired off an email with some questions to Chris Saitta, CEO of Equator, when I read the news. He actually called me back within 10 minutes! Basically said since Equator's tech side is guided by client choice of agents that REO agents will not be affected. I had wondered if this meant only Altisource agents would receive business. Anyway, I was surprised: this is the second time I've contacted a CEO or CFO and received immediate response (previously from IAS when I asked for looooong overdue money - and the CFO made sure I got it!) Never hurts to try....

Sounds like "FUN" ahead. I stop taking assignments from them for the EXACT same reasons. Just NOT worth my time and I am NOT an appraiser. They ask for an opinion but then don't like it!

I personally think this is a bad thing.  Altisource's call center and support is in India!

Thank you for correcting me on that Mike! I actually did know it was Altisource but I have been with Ocwen since before Altisource acquired them that it is hard to for me to start calling them Altisource! LOL.

It is Altisource that is purchasing them.  Altisource has purchased many subsidiaries from OCWEN however, but they are separate I believe. Here is the original article from DS News - http://www.dsnews.com/articles/altisource-announces-deal-to-buy-equ...
