HAFA, HARP & HAMP Extended Through 2015

U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew announced today that Treasury is extending the Making Home Affordable Program for another two years. The new expiration date is now set for December 31, 2015.

The program offers help to homeowners through solutions including the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives (HAFA), and the Second Lien Modification Program.

As of March, an estimated 1.1 million struggling homeowners have received a permanent modification through HAMP.

The move aligns with the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) extension for the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP), which was first announced in April.

If the person on the mortgage is dead why bother with a short sale?

Well, the GSE's (Fannie & Freddie) have their own programs.  HAFA is still applicable for ALL others.  WF likely didn't own the loan in your situation and were likely just the servicer.

I just had a negotiator with WF tell me that hafa has been discontinued. And no one is offering relocation assistance. I have a short sale that I am working on that is very complex. The owner died with the property left in a trust. The trustee is active duty military on deployment. I had been told by other banks that because he is on deployment it is considered owner occupied, and falls under hafa guidelines.

I am also appealing the bpo value with a full appraisal.

Any suggestion?
