Agents say MetLife is VERY slow to approve short sales, and that you are also better off mailing all documents as well.

Fortunately we haven't directly done a short sale with MetLife Home Loans yet that I'm aware of, it sounds like they are HORRIBLE to deal with!

I just got the approval from First Horizon ( first ) City mortgage on
(2nd ) position, it took me about 3.5 months, first buyer walk out, I submited the new offer before the negociator contact me.
I got another short sale with first Horizon first and 2nd, later the first lien we're sold to IBM, I got an approval from IBM. I am still waiting for the 2nd ( First Horizon ), I will keep you posted !

Oh Boy! I have a package pending processor review. At least, MetLife has acknowledged the receipt of the short sale package last week. The first offer on this property was cancelled by the Buyer since we did not get a response in 3 months. I hope we can do better on this one.

Theresa and all,

For the loans purchased by MetLife (1st Trusts) the contact info posted by Angela is correct.

If you have a Second Trust that was retained by First Horizon, the Loss Mitigation process is being handled by their subsidiary, First Tennessee Bank. The phone number into their (First Tennessee) Loss Mitigation Dept. is 800-354-4538.

They didn't make this easy to find out!

Thanks Angela. Sorry for the delay.

In this instance I am dealing with a First Horizons 2nd trust, which I believe First Horzins retained. It appears that they only sold the 1st trust portfolio to MetLife.

It usually takes a few fax tries to get a package uploaded, along with mailing everything in. I was even told by the negotiator to MAIL my response to their counter offer in because it will probably get lost in the fax. They, apparently, haven't figured out how to use email, so be aware of that.

The average time frame for a MetLife short sale is about 7 months. Be prepared. ;)

Have fun!!

Hey Clay,

Any luck getting a contact number for First Horizon? I'm trying to get in touch with them so I can submitt a short sale package and I can not get anyone to call me back. I go straight into a VM. I've left three messages and have not gotten one call back. I need a fax# so I can fax the package in. There is no fax#s listed on the web. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I would give all the contact information for this servicer/lender, but since it will do no good, I won't bother. LOL

This is, by far, the worst entity to do a short sale with. I have had one in process for 4 months and they are "still reviewing" the file and I cannot escalate because the negotiator is not "outside their time limit to review the file".

It takes 15 business days to assign a negotiator and then they get "at least" 45 business days to review the file. If the file has not been reviewed by the 45 days, you can escalate the file, which takes 15 business days, and they don't guarantee that anything will happen.

In fact, they advise that you fax all the documents in and then mail a hardcopy with signature receipt. It's a waste of money, however, as they'll claim that they have never received it...even if the signature receipt is signed.

Honestly, I have never had as many problems with a short sale (even with BofA) as I've had with this company.

In fact, it is so bad that we now will not take any short sales that have MetLife as a servicer/lender.

Ugh.
