I have dealt with Greentree, they were a big lender (at least in my area) during the lending boom.

I remember when Greentree was financing Harley Davidsons. You could go to the dealer, buy a new harley sportster for about $2800 with an 21% loan and ride out the door and into paradise until you had to make your first payment. That was in the mid 80's. I see they are still slithering around.  Listen to the recording when calling a servicer. Does the recording say "we are a lender"?  No, the recording says"We are a debt collection agency".  Enough said.

I have worked with Greentree who is not a servicer for Bank of America, but a debt collector that buys non-performing notes from Bank of America (including some that BofA services) and then attempts to collect the debt.  If there is MI insurance it'll most likely be declined, but otherwise they will consider a short sale.  I am a CDPE in Ventura County and also handle the San Fernando Valley (Southern California), if I can be of assistance.
